Dia de los Muertos Celebration

Join us for our annual Dia de los Metros Celebration on October 23rd at the historic Davis Cemetery grounds. This celebration is one of the last Mesoamerican indigenous influenced rituals, honoring mother earth and all ancestors. This celebration is part of an effort to create community, a sense of belonging, and global awareness of cultural richness in our multicultural society. The Dia de los Muertos Celebration will include Danza by Kulpulli Tlayolotl, Marachi Puente, Escritores del Nuevo Sol Poets, Musician David Campos, Free Rang Singers, Dancer Justine Villanueva, others, as well as a collective altar honoring all ancestors, including Poet Alarcón. These events are free and open to the public. This event will coincide with the Gallery 1855 artist exhibition : Dreamers, Alters, Words and, Paintings”featuring over 10 art screen prints by Jaime Montiel with the poetry text by locally and internationally recognized Poet Francisco X. Alarcón. Everyone is welcome to contribute to the public alter. Everyone is encouraged to bring chairs, blankets, and enjoy the day.
