“Capturing Light”

One of my favorite pastimes is to simply head out in a general direction, with no fixed destination, and explore Sonoma and Marin counties.  From the Marin Headlands and the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, up the coast to Point Reyes National Seashore, Bodega Bay and beyond.  Inland along the Russian River, through the Redwoods of Armstrong Grove, out to the Sonoma and Napa wine country, down to Mount Tamalpais, and everywhere in between.  We are very fortunate to live in some of the most beautiful country anywhere.  Nearly all my photos are from this area (the exception being a few from Hawaii).

I especially like to shoot in the winter, when the southern sun imparts a wonderful variety of different lighting to the scenery around us.

Each of my photographs is an attempt to capture a specific moment in time:  the mood, the light, and the emotion.  I shoot for my own enjoyment, but if even one of my pictures stirs you, moves you, or transports you to that moment, I count it a double success.
