DESCRIPTION:Sacramento based artist\, Alexandra Yakovleva will be exhibiting her work during the month of January. \n     \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \nArtist Statement: \nGeometric figurative abstract has been my recent obsession. I am currently experimenting with painting recognizable shapes and dividing them into a segment in one image. The idea is to break an image into balanced sections and work on each part individually without losing the harmonic effect of the whole composition.\nI started my journey with golden abstract paintings that have a cubistic base and rather sharp geometrical execution. I used a very limited palette to make my focus on the shapes rather than color. The main colors I used were gold\, ultramarine blue and burned umber.\nLater I expended into my colorful geometric abstract using a limited palette. I worked on each segment challenging myself by mixing bare essentials to get a new unique color. As a result\, I wanted to see how colors act and complement each other. \n
