SUMMARY:Cathie James-Robinson and Amanda Cadelago Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Artist Statements \n \nAmanda Cadelago \nI am a painter\, working in oil and acrylic paint\, as well as chalk pastel. Witha life-long love for art\, I pursued and received a bachelor’s in art from the California State University\, Sacramento\, and a professional associates of art degree in design from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in San Francisco.\nAfter acquiring my degrees\, I’ve worked in creative fields including fashion design and graphic design\, while still working on my art. I had a piece included in the 2021 and 2022 KVIE Art Auction. I also presented two collections of acrylic landscape paintings at the Artery Davis in 2022 and 2023 and showed a collection of chalk pastel pet portraits at the 2019 RAW Artists show in Sacramento. \n  \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \n

SUMMARY:COVID-19 Permanent Memorial Dedication Event
DESCRIPTION:The Davis Cemetery District will dedicate a permanent COVID-19 Memorial\, a project three years in the making. This memorial\, located at 820 Pole Line Road\, will serve as a space for reflection\, remembrance\, and healing. The memorial features a walking path with four portals—Home\, Community\, Loss\, and Hope—leading to a reflection area where visitors can sit and contemplate the impact of the pandemic. As visitors exit the memorial\, they will encounter images highlighting strength and resiliency\, focusing on looking forward while remembering the past. \nEven though the memorial is in Davis\, California\, and many of its images reflect the Sacramento Region\, it is intended to be a shared space of caring for people across the world. \nThe memorial honors those who lost their lives and considers first responders\, essential workers\, small businesses\, caregivers\, families\, and friends\, especially those disproportionately impacted by the pandemic. Closer to home\, it acknowledges the local community’s resilience and ability to overcome adversity. \nWhen:\nSunday\, September 22\, 2024\n11:00 A.M. (Guests are invited to arrive at 10:30 A.M. for a cardmaking project) \nWhere:\nDavis Cemetery District\n820 Pole Line Road\, Davis\, CA \nFormal program coming soon!  \n
