DESCRIPTION:On an annual basis\, the Davis Cemetery District holds a Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebration on our grounds. This celebration is one of the last Mesoamerican indigenous-influenced rituals\, honoring mother earth and all its ancestors. This celebration is part of an effort to create a community\, a sense of belonging\, and global awareness of cultural richness in our multicultural society. \n2022 Dia de los Muertos Event Information\nMonday\, October 31st through Wednesday\, November 2nd\n \n  \nEducational signage and welcome address will be placed along our internal roadway \nA public altar will be set up outside the administration building for viewing. We also welcome contributions to the altar from our visitors \nFresh marigolds will be available for the public to place on graves in order to honor their loved ones \n  \n  \nVen a honrar a los antepasados y seres queridos\, que han cruzado al mundo de los espíritus. \nThank you to Jesse Ortiz and the entire Concilio Board for reviewing our plan and supporting the District in taking on this event. \n  \n

SUMMARY:Marguerite Schaffron and Bunny Cunningham Exhibition
DESCRIPTION: \n \n \nArtist Statement for Marguerite: \nDuring my walks in nature\, I often see people and creatures. The Mind’s Eye are a “reflection” of this blending – that of humanity and nature. Using the mylars reflections\, I photograph how nature and individual(s) merge into one. Neither distinct – a single\, unified being. In my sculpture\, I recycle items from Mother Nature. I strive to transform the objects into thought provoking\, sometimes whimsical\, assemblages. Please enjoy & let your imagination flow. \n \n \n \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n \n  \n  \nArtist Statement for Bunny: \nFor me\, the artistic process is always an invitation to challenge myself and recreate. I find my surroundings as a constant and unlimited source of design inspiration. I am a free spirit who is constantly seeking the next thrill to challenge me. \n  \n
