SUMMARY:Lois Richter Exhibition
DESCRIPTION: Artist Statement:\n“Experimental” best describes the abstracts and landscapes in this exhibit.  Artist Lois Richter uses a fluid painting technique she calls “Swiped Acrylics”  — which she created because of her frustration with the ‘Poured Acrylics’ technique that used lots of paint\, dried very slowly\, changed even after it was ‘finished’\, and offered little control for creating anything but abstracts.\nLois re-thought\, refined\, and reapplied the physics of layering fluid acrylics to create her new style — so she could use cells and lacing to make abstracts AND landscapes!\nThis Davis artist has always been creative:  drawing horses in wet cement as a child — puttering with Dad’s woodworking tools as a teen — sewing clothes and throwing pots in college — creating studio sets for her own and others’ television shows — decorating concert stages — making vignettes around the house — curating art exhibit displays — and taking photos for over 40 years.  Because she had her own business (“The Organizer”\, 1980-2015) and no children\, playing was always a part of Lois’ life.  But it wasn’t until 2003 that she began seriously making art.  Since then she has tried many things — stained glass\, encaustic\, lino-cut prints\, embossed aluminum\, wire sculpting\, computer art\, Artist Trading Cards (ATCs)\, mosaic\, jewelry design\, and drawing and iPad sketching.\nAlthough late to defining herself as ‘an artist’\, Lois has jumped in since her retirement and now paints almost every day.  She also teaches classes.\nDid I mentions she stopped producing television shows when KDRT.org was formed and now hosts two weekly radio shows?  Lois is very busy person. And a very happy one.  Lois Richter 1315 Torrey St\, Davis CA 95618 530-902-0209\, http://gotouring.com/art \n
