April 2023

Cedric Williams Exhibition

April 3, 2023 - April 28, 2023

Cedric Williams Artist Statement I use oils as my primary medium. I would adhere to a tone for underpainting and sketch out shapes to draw out the composition. Sometimes I would use a thick paint application topping it off by using a palette knife.  I began creating art because it's soothing to my heart and spirit. In the balance of my emotions, I can create art to express myself in ways I cannot put into words. My artwork displays a deep…

May 2023

Kari Uhlman Exhibition

May 1, 2023 @ 8:00 am - May 31, 2023 @ 3:00 pm

Artist Statement: KARI UHLMAN  From the Ancient One - Acrylic Paintings  My degree is in General Design from Cosumnes River College. I like acrylic painting because it is forgiving and one can quickly paint over an unwanted stroke. My courage drives me to create art that promotes peace.  God created things to function in an orderly fashion and He continues to keep things in order.  People were created out of love for the purpose of sharing love. Relationships and fellowship…

August 2023

Jacob Lewis Exhibition

August 1, 2023 - August 31, 2023

Artist Statement As life can be quite uncertain at times, so can the subject matter of my works, and it is in this uncertainty that I have leaned into in order to find a process of creating work that is very exciting, but also challenging. The works are guided by the initial mark-making, and everything that comes after that is completely related to the marks and also the colors or medium that has been chosen to make the…

October 2023

April Camlin Exhibition

October 6, 2023 @ 8:00 am - October 27, 2023 @ 3:00 pm

APRIL CAMLIN ARTIST STATEMENT Although it is natural to experience our lives as a continuum in which one event flows subtly into the next, there are, at times, Threshold moments that we pass through, where there is a distinct and discernible "before" and "after". These times in our lives can often be understood through the archetype of the Rite of Passage -- an initiatory challenge that is an intrinsic and unavoidable step forward on our path of transformation. Cut off from…

November 2023

Michael Rowden Exhibition

November 1, 2023 @ 8:00 am - November 30, 2023 @ 3:00 pm

Artist Statement:  I'm a native of Plumas County. I was born in Portola and I remember Grizzly Valley before the dam at Lake Davis was built. Loss, trauma and recovery have been recurring themes throughout my life. The list of physical trauma I have endured is extensive. It is difficult for me to fathom at times everything that has happened. It doesn't seem possible yet I don't have to look far to find others dealing with more difficult issues than…

December 2023

Max Crosby Exhibition

December 1, 2023 @ 8:00 am - December 29, 2023 @ 3:00 pm

Artist Statement:  In a way, the artist statement should be written by people other than the artist. Admirers perhaps, or critics. I can say that what motivates me to paint is, what used to be a common ambition but is now seen as pejorative via its alter-ego ‘derivative’, emulation. It would be time worth devoting if over the course of my life I can produce something that might stand, in technique and evocation, next to those painters I…
